 About our Role – Systems Safety / Systems Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager this position will drive leadership around System Safety and contribute to the CCBRNE program success. The successfully candidate not only will contribute to delivering a compliant project but will join a team with a dynamic culture and a shared purpose. The C-CBRNE Engineering project team is growing and looking for someone who passionate about their work and being part of an amazing team.

The key accountabilities for this position will include:

  • Provide expertise in developing System Safety contract deliverables for new equipment acquisitions, including System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Logs and Safety Case Reports.

  • Apply a structured approach to Hazard Analysis to ensure hazards are identified, analysed, evaluated and eliminated or the associated risk reduced to an acceptable level throughout the lifecycle of a system.

  • Deliver high quality solutions that meet customers’ expectations and comply with contractual obligations.

  • Provide guidance and support to project teams for systems safety engineering issues.

  • Support and develop technical engineering and compliance processes to ensure integration with all operational areas.

  • To support the asset management team in scoping, developing and implementing improvement initiatives to ensure contractual deliverables and excellence to customers as per the business unit objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant WHS and associated technical legislation.

  • Maintain an awareness of industry 'best practice' and provide regular updates to the business and customers of news and developments within the industry sectors.

About You

  • Degree qualified engineer preferably with chartered engineer status and a ideally five + years relevant experience

  • Professional Certification in Systems Safety Engineering (desirable).

  • Previous Systems Safety Engineering experience in equipment/fleet management.

  • Experienced in Hazard Analysis techniques, including Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (OSHA), Hazard Material Analysis (HAZMAT) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Must be eligible to obtain a defence clearance
