Sub-Contractor Coordinator

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a Joint Venture between Babcock and UGL and currently has an exciting newly created opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Sub-Contract Coordinator to join our Warship Alliance Management Agreement (WAMA) program based in Henderson, WA.

The Sub-Contractor Coordinator will safely manage and control allocated subcontractor tasks and ensure timely delivery of maintenance activities. They will support the Assistant production Manager in establishing site requirements and foster good relationships with the all stakeholders to ensure open and honest dialogue is maintained.

The Sub-Contract Coordinator has a range of duties that include bit not limited to:

  • Be a leading influence on NSM’s drive to achieve a Safety First Culture and ensure all HSE events are captured and reported.

  • Undertake any required safety training and remain current with best practice.

  • Authorise permit requirements to ensure timely performance and compliance with company and customer requirements.

  • Coordination and control of subcontractors and project resources.

  • Act as the first point of contact for allocated risk assessments

  • Plan work activities to ensure timely performance and compliance with company and customer


  • Control of inspection and testing activities by internal and external stakeholders

  • Review and authorise Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s) /Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) for allocated tasks prior to work commencing to ensure compliance with legislative, work instruction and contractual requirements.

  • Review of Task Progress Completion Certificate (TPCC), collate Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) and submit TPCC for allocated tasks and updating SAP

  • Ensure Problem Identification Report (PIR’s) have been raised for allocated tasks and monitor progress against task schedule for impact.

  • Assist in the raising of Non Conformance Reports

  • Prepare reports, estimates, budgets and risk mitigation plans

  • Provide interaction and support for Project Management Team

  • Preparation of project documentation as appropriate

  • Attend site meetings and progress meetings

  • Assist the Production Manager and/or Assistant Production Managers in evaluation of subcontractors’ variation claims and provide estimates for emergent works

  • Provide Project Scheduler with subcontractor schedule performance and reporting



About You

This role will align with an experienced coordinator that has a proven track record of delivery within a complex defence or technical engineering environment. You will ideally have supporting trade qualifications within a mechanical or electrical discipline and have an excellent interpersonal, communications and stakeholder’s engagement skillset. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. Ideally, the successful candidate will have naval or defence experience couple with passion to drive and develop their professional career.
