Strategic Support Manager

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a Joint Venture between Babcock and UGL and currently has an exciting newly opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Strategic Support Manager to join our Warship Alliance Management Agreement (WAMA) program based in Henderson, WA.
The Strategic Support Manager (SSM) plays a critical role in identifying and supplying future support needs for the ANZAC Class. With overarching responsibility for the determination of inventory and materiel support requirements and via the Inventory Management Office (IMO) the procurement of inventory, linked with the Asset Management Strategic direction for the Class, the SSM establishes, maintains and enhances strategic supplier relationships across the Defence industry network to foster the optimum levels of supportability for the ANZAC Class.
The Strategic Support Manager has a range of duties that include but not limited to:
The SSM is accountable to the IMS Group Manager to deliver traditional supply chain activities within the WAMA including inventory requirements determination, procurement, repair and disposal planning.
Conduct scheduling, risk and performance management of the strategic support team ensuring that all activities are conducted within budget and in accordance with the strategic, asset-managed intent of the WAMA.
Identification of optimisation opportunities via development and management of reporting tools, performance indicators, and supply governance framework.
Influencing high performance sourcing activities and procurement operations with the aim of driving the material cost down while improving materiel availability and improving the quality of the products delivered.
Management of In-Service support contracts and Service Level Agreements interfacing with Alliance Supply function.
Monitoring the performance of suppliers utilised by the AMO and tasked Participants.
Maintain oversight and where required direction of the IMO in pursuit of WAMA procurement and inventory management objectives
Be accountable for supplier relationship management and engagement across the ANZAC Enterprise.
Manage the Technical Support Network via the requirements of ABR 6492 – Technical Regulations.
Conduct oversight of relevant IP technical support networks to ensure overall best for program outcomes.
Identify and report obsolescence issues facing the Class.
Manage supply information systems and associated policies and procedures.
Drive a business improvement culture with regards to people, process and systems to continually focus on opportunities for greater efficiencies within the Alliance and its performance.
Provide guidance, support and development of key logistic staff.
Be the WAMA SME for all matters pertaining to strategic Supply Chain activity.
This role will align with an experienced senior supply chain professional that has a proven track record of delivery within a complex defence or technical engineering environment. You will ideally have supporting degree level qualifications within an associated discipline and have an excellent interpersonal, communications and stakeholder’s engagement skillset. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of Integrated Logistics Support, Life Cycle Costing and Logistics Cost of Ownership principles.
