About the role – Senior HSEQ Manager

Based in Adelaide CBD offices, we have a newly created role as Senior HSEQ Manager role supporting our Land and Marine Business units across the Australasia region. Reporting to our Head of HSEQ and leading a small team – this role is a fantastic career opportunity to utilise your experience and expertise in delivering high standards across Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Assurance.

Our Land and Marine business units are in an exciting phase of growth and support a diverse portfolio of programs in both defence and commercial sectors. “Home Safe Every Day” is at the very heart of Babcock and this role is a key contributor to the HSEQ team in delivering this.

This is going to be a diverse role covering the spectrum of HSE & Quality Assurance. Some of the activities this role will undertake include:

  • Plan, develop and deliver a programme of HSEQ audits and schedules to ensure full compliance with all process standards set out in law and business policy and deliver the HSEQ outcomes to meet ongoing monthly, quarterly and annual HSEQ objectives and performance indicators

  • Lead and direct the appropriate investigation of safety-related matters and make any necessary reports to the relevant authorities as required by regulations and Regional policy.

  • Build and gain agreement to audit procedures, plans & inspections and ensure this is fully implemented to ensure compliance and all certification of relevant national and international standards is achieved or maintained

  • Ensure that policies, standards and procedures are developed and implemented across the business such that HSEQ standards can be fully assured consistent with regional policy and legal and contractual requirements

  • Lead a small team of HSEQ professionals across the region

 

Ideally you will have:

  • Substantial experience in a similar safety role at management level

  • Experience leading audit and investigation teams

  • Experience in the development and monitoring of meaningful leading and lagging performance indicators

  • Sound knowledge of HSEQ related legislation and standards relevant to the BU activities

  • Experience in the development of HSEQ responses to commercial tenders, interpretation of commercial contracts and service level agreements

  • Proficient in the conduct of trend analysis and development of improvement and/or remedial action plans

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline are desirable as would qualifications as a lead auditor, qualifications as an accident or incident investigator and qualifications or training in leadership and/ or management

 

Your ability to build and foster strong relationships and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels will be your strengths as will your outstanding communication skills and willingness to truly partner with your business units.

This role will require a defence security clearance. Applicants will need to have an active clearance or eligibility to gain this upon commencement.
