Senior Commercial Officer

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a Joint Venture between Babcock and UGL and currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Commercial Officer to join our Alliance Management Office in Rockingham WA.

The key accountabilities for this new position will include but not be limited to:

  • Prepare Tasking Requests to engage Alliance Participants, ensuring they are clear, accurate and within process and delegations.

  • Work closely with operational areas to identify potential variations.

  • Prepare Requests for Proposal, and expedite industry to deliver a timely response.

  • Review estimates to ensure contractual compliance, and develop Adjustment Event Proposals to meet business objectives.

  • Liaise with industry and the client to coordinate review and acceptance.

  • Draft contractual correspondence.

  • Monitor and report on commercial activities.

  • Advise stakeholders on contractual obligations.

  • Support the Commercial Manager in maintaining and updating processes and templates.

  • Provide support and complete ad hoc tasks as required.

As a Senior Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that Adjustment Event Proposals (proposals for additional work or for variations) and Tasking Requests (instructions to industry to complete work) are prepared to a high standard and approved on time.

As the ideal candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary level qualifications within an associated discipline.

  • Detailed working knowledge of commercial processes both pre and post -award.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Business and financial acumen, and ability to understand and interpret financial reports.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate with people from all levels of an organisation, coupled with an ability to build cooperative working relationships.

  • Ability to self-manage workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.

  • Highly developed skills in the use of Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in financial or project controls software is desirable.
