Purchasing Team Leader

We are currently seeking an experience Purchasing Team Leader to join our talented land team based in our state of the art Adelaide CBD headquarters. The Purchasing Team Leader is responsible to provide contracts and purchasing services and advice ensuring that purchasing is undertaken in a manner that delivers commercial value, manages risk and suppliers. They will deliver a high quality solution which meets the customers’ expectations and complies with contractual obligations.
Key accountabilities will include:
Lead a team of purchasing officers to cover the land business requirements;
Ensure processes are in place to effectively manage supplier and inventory related activities, in order to minimise risk to the business in the areas of quality, on-time delivery and cost;
Support the on-time delivery of orders from suppliers, ensuring their performance is as per contractual requirements and benchmark standards;
Effective management of inventory and controlled parts utilising Babcock and client systems;
Drive root cause analysis for all purchasing related activities for the land business;
Ensure on time reporting is adhered to for all required clients within the land business;
Continual review and update of business processes to support continuous improvement strategies and the effectiveness of the purchasing/inventory/purchasing processes;
Support the adequate and appropriate supply of products and services for Operations in accordance with purchasing requests;
Support the timely input of requests into the existing data system and adequate follow-up of outstanding/overdue orders;
Ensure contractors documentation (public liability insurance, work cover registration, licenses
& tickets etc.) is up to date at times;
Accurate maintenance of information for inventory and controlled parts in the Babcock and client systems;
Conduct stocktakes and reconcile findings;
Improve efficiency through the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives as per internal processes
Ensure internal customers are provided with accurate purchasing updates on all project related orders at meetings;
Manage the selection criteria and due diligence of suppliers and contracted service providers.
Monitor and maintain the contractors induction and work permit register; and
Coordination with operations for required services within the Babcock policies
Ensure compliance with purchasing policy at all sites.
Ensure sufficient resources are applied to SCM activities.
Support the disposal process for GSE equipment and parts.
Information System data management
This role will align with a tertiary qualified and experienced purchasing professional that has demonstrable experience working within a complex engineering or asset management environment. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and someone that enjoys managing, leading and developing teams. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. Ideally the successful candidate will have previous experience working within the Australian Defence Supply Chain system and have exposure to the MILIS system.
