Labourer / Trade Assistant

Babcock New Zealand currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Labourer / Trade Assistant to join our experienced team based at the Navy Base in Devonport.

 

 

Key Duties

  • Undertake General Labouring duties, this may include cleaning and preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.

  • Labourers set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures. They help and assist other trades and specialized contractors.

 

 

Key Requirements

  • Must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance.

  • Labourers must also be able to concentrate on their tasks. The ability to understand and communicate information is also essential.

  • Some Technical knowledge is required to use some tools and machines.

  • Ability to communicate in English

 

Skills required:

  • Good all-round technical knowledge
  • Ability to carry out light fabrication work (Desirable)
  • Basic knowledge in light fabrication work
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Forklift license (Desirable)

 

To be successful in this role you should be capable of working to a high standard both on your own and in a team environment.  You should be familiar with Microsoft office and preferably trained in Confined Space and Elevated Work Platforms.  Experience in a marine environment is also desirable.
