Babcock Australasia are seeking a highly motivated and recently qualified Legal, Commercial or Procurement Graduate Trade Control Officer  to join a high performing team in delivering trade controls support for new and existing contracts across all sectors with a particular focus in our Marine sector.

Job Summary: 

As an appropriately qualified and motivated individual, you will be supporting the Australasian Trade Controls Team in the provision of trade controls support for our new & existing contracts across all sectors, with a particular focus in our Marine sector. You will be responsible for delivering administration and technical support activities across a number of areas of responsibilities.

The Role: 

As a member of our growing Trade Controls Team you will provide technical support across the project teams ensuring that trade control activities are undertaken in a manner that delivers commercial value, manages risk and meets business partner requirements and expectations.

Reporting to the Trade Controls Manager Australasia, you will be responsible for delivering administration and technical support activities across the following areas of responsibilities:

  • Assisting in ensuring that all projects and support functions strictly comply with the requirements of the U.S. (ITAR, EAR), U.K., Australian and all other applicable export control rules and regulations

  • Maintaining details of all current U.S. Agreements to which the Babcock companies are a signatory in a central repository regularly updated and readily available to all relevant parties if required

  • Coordinating and forwarding license applications to relevant authorities

  • Providing export compliance expertise to support business development and project management activities

  • Monitoring access controls for all export-controlled technology used by the business units

  • Support in the implementation plans for all matters relating to facility and IT security (in conjunction with the relevant internal stakeholders)

  • Performing inductions and assisting employees with Trade Controls in the on-boarding phase

  • Reporting non-compliance, corrective actions and impact to the Trade Controls Manager

  • Carrying out pre-prepared assessments and internal audits to help identify non-compliances with all applicable export controls and regulations and assist with the implementation of corrective actions

  • Creating/updating procedures and policies to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and ensure implementation and compliance by the relevant stakeholders

  • Responsible for ensuring that all receipts, storage, access, handling, destruction and transmission of export controlled technology or data is conducted in accordance with Babcock’s

As the ideal candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Have a highly committed and motivated attitude with the drive to succeed  and develop

  • Tertiary qualification within a legal, commercial or procurement degree

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Demonstrable ability to use initiative and prioritise competing responsibilities

  • Be detailed focused and driven to deliver a high standard of customer satisfaction

  • Ability to analyse data and conduct further investigations to identify and implement improvement activities

  • Work autonomously and part of a team as required
