Babcock is excited to partner with Air New Zealand in delivering an exciting and diverse contract to support the asset management and sustainment activities for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) in locations nationally and internationally. Working with Air New Zealand as its trusted asset management partner, Babcock is delivering a customised and innovative asset management solution to drive reliability and efficiency improvements of equipment and provide significant long-term capability and cost benefits.

In order to support the introduction and ongoing delivery of this contract we now have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Team Lead to join our team based in Auckland.

About the Role

This team lead position will be responsible for leading the Fleet Management Team to provide a strategic approach to the acquisition and sustainment of GSE for the customer. The Fleet Team Lead will provide leadership, direction, supervision and inspirational management to team members (direct & indirect) and ensure a high quality solution is delivered, which meets customers' expectations and complies with contractual obligations. The Fleet Team Lead will manage the safe maintenance and repair of fleet assets and endeavour to achieve equipment availability targets in line with budgeted costs.

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Practice, promote and manage Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance and participate in the development and maintenance of a culture in which health, safety and environmental management is everyone’s key priority, and work to eliminate incidents and accidents in accordance with the Babcock “Home Safe Every Day” philosophy

  • Manage the team to ensure they understand and comply to all relevant Quality Management policies, procedures and processes

  • Monitor and manage the contract costs ensuring they stay within budgeted targets;

  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the client. Ensure a high level of service is provided to the client at all times and the contract deliverables achieved

  • Manage the team to ensure all maintenance and repair work meets the original equipment manufacturer’s recommendations in line with local legislation

  • Manage the team to ensure all fleet management information and maintenance and repair work performed is entered accurately into the computerised maintenance management system.

  • Provide technical guidance and training support to the team

  • Manage the team to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently in line with budget

  • Project a professional image in front of our clients and the public at all times

  • Communicate effectively to support the Account Manager by completing administration tasks and submitting accurate reports in a timely manner

  • Ensure all non-conformances are assessed, reported and addressed accordingly

  • Actively participate in personal training and development to keep up to date with latest industry best practice, technologies and regulations

  • Monitor the operations and ensure any concerns and observations are reported accordingly

  • Manage the team to ensure condition based maintenance is practiced wherever possible and continually improve our condition based maintenance and repair strategies.



About You

This role will align with an experienced Fleet or Technical Manger that has demonstrable experience in leading technical teams within a commercial airline, technical engineering or asset management sectors. You will be a confident team player with a passion for identifying and driving change, and someone that enjoys managing, leading and developing members of your team. You will have exceptional time management and organisational skills coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload, with strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have significant experience and in depth understanding of relevant condition monitoring methods, condition based maintenance principles and failure root cause analysis.
