Engineering Manager - Marine

We currently have an exciting full time permanent opportunity for an experienced, qualified and professional Engineering Manager to join our high performing marine team based in Osborne.
About the Role
The role will report to the General Manager - Submarines and will be responsible for leading, managing and developing a team of engineers in order to deliver all activities required of the engineering function to meet the requirements of the relevant contracts. The primary engineering services provided relate to the in service support (sustainment) of submarine weapons systems. Additionally this senior level role will oversee the planning, management and delivery of all Babcock Marine engineering accountabilities as well as supporting the greater Babcock functions to enable successful delivery of all operational and strategic engineering requirements to all external stakeholders
Key responsibilities are as follows:
Management responsibility for engineering personnel within the team
Manage the training, development and succession planning of engineering personnel within the team
Responsibility for the quality, safety and timeliness of engineering service delivery
Manage the relationship with all internal and external engineering stakeholders
Work closely with Babcock’s UK based engineering team to both deliver selected projects collaboratively and to work within a shared engineering governance framework
Develop, deliver, and update Engineering Management Plans as required
Ensure that all engineering services provided by subcontractors and associated parties are provided in accordance with documented requirements
Ensure that subcontractors and associated parties develop, update and implement appropriate technical plans
Ensure that engineering services are reported on in accordance with requirements
Attend client technical reviews as required;
Hold Engineering Support Reviews in accordance with requirements.
Support the planning, management and delivery of all Babcock Marine engineering accountabilities
This role will align with an experienced Engineering Manager who has a proven capability of managing, leading and developing technical engineering teams within a complex defence, manufacturing or technical engineering environment and possess an excellent interpersonal and analytical skill set. The successful candidate will be degree qualified within Engineering or Naval Architecture and will ideally have Chartered Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineering Technologist status or eligibility for chartered status. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and enjoys working within a team environment. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. Previous experience and qualifications within Project Management and Military Submarine Systems will be highly desirable.
The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
