Assistant Production Manager

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a Joint Venture between Babcock and UGL and currently has an exciting newly created opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Production Manager to join our Warship Alliance Management Agreement (WAMA) program based in Henderson, WA.
The role of the Assistant Production Manager (APM) is to support the Production Manager in safely delivering External Maintenance Availabilities (EMA) / Maintenance Window of Opportunity (MWO) and Defect Rectification Periods (DRP) on NSM contracted defence platforms. The APM will be responsible for overall subcontractor performance at Project level and will provide leadership to the Subcontractor Coordinators ensuring improvement initiatives are developed and recognised.
The Assistant Production Manager has a range of duties that include bit not limited to:
Lead the HSE drive for a “Safety First” Culture on Project
Mentor, Manage and provide leadership to Subcontractor Coordinators
Engagement of subcontractors to support the project requirements
Ensure Subcontractor task allocation is aligned to the NSM Procurement Policy
Assist in the evaluation of subcontractors’ variation claims and review estimates for emergent works ensuring Value for Money (VFM)
Provide continuous subcontractor data and performance reviews to all stakeholders
Management of Problem Identification Reports (PIR’s)
Identification and implementation of site service requirements for assigned projects
Identification and Management of Project Support Service Requirements for each assigned project
Develop a mobilisation plan. material requirements and project management plans for each assigned project
Identification of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)/ Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) delivery schedule
Manage Task Progress Completion Certificate (TPCC) process, including stakeholder requirements
Act as focal point in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with all stakeholders through each stage of the project
Provide information to the Production Manager for Integrated Project Team (IPT) meetings to ensure the impact of change and subsequent risks/benefits are understood and can be agreed, managed and communicated through each stage of the project
Review and approval of Purchase Orders up to the delegated value
Chair daily meetings for assigned projects
This role will align with an experienced technical Supervisor or Manager that has a proven track record of delivery within a complex defence or technical engineering environment. You will ideally have supporting trade qualifications within a mechanical or electrical discipline and this will be supported by leadership and project management experience and/or qualifications. Additionally you have an excellent interpersonal, communications and stakeholder’s engagement skillset. You will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. Ideally, the successful candidate will have naval or defence experience and exposure to AMPS systems.
