Asset Performance and Optimisation Coordinator

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a Joint Venture between Babcock and UGL and currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Asset Performance and Optimisation Coordinator to join NSM based in central Sydney.

About the Role


The Asset Performance and Optimisation Coordinator is responsible for delivering asset management activities to assess and optimise performance, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership, of Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) Assets owned by the Royal Australian Navy. 

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Contribute to a “Safety First” culture through demonstrating “felt leadership” and participation in HSE initiatives;

  • Planning and analysis and activities within own competence without day to day guidance or supervision, liaise within the LHD Asset Class Enterprise including the customer and suppliers as appropriate.

  • Monitoring and analysis of asset, system and sub-system demand.

  • Responsible for the through life capability management of assigned assets to ensure sustained outcomes and provide asset availability.

  • Update the Asset Management Records (ship and support system) regularly to reflect planned and forecast changes in through life capability of assigned asset systems.

  • Propose optimisation activities to reduce total cost of ownership.

  • Propose and make asset decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.

  • Assist in the preparation of business cases and change proposals for LHD Asset Class Enterprise / Commonwealth consideration of options to manage Asset optimisation outcomes.

  • Contribute to and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.  

About You

This role will align with an experienced asset management/sustainment professional that possesses experience of working in a complex engineering or defence environment with a demonstrated understanding and strategic asset management analyses and activities. The successful candidate will have high level computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for continuous improvement and working in a fast paced environment. Previous experience with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and/or the Capability, Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) will be highly regarded.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
