With a commitment to consolidating and growing our market leading presence in our sectors of Marine, Land and Aviation, we now seek applications from suitably qualified candidates for the newly created role of Trade Controls Manager. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the Trade Controls Manager will be joining our highly experienced Commercial team in our Adelaide Regional Support Centre where they will play a pivotal role in establishing Babcock Australasia’s’ strategy for compliance with all domestic and international export control rules and regulations. Working with a diverse portfolio of business units, project teams and client groups that span across defence, public sector agencies and high profile commercial entities, the Trade Controls Manager will establish and integrate a best practice approach to the end to end management of all trade control requirements through the fulfilment of key responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop strategies to ensure that all business units comply with the requirements of U.S. (ITAR, EAR), U.K., Australian and all other applicable export control regulations

  • Act as a key interface with statutory authorities for all regulatory matters in relation to applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks

  • Provide subject matter expertise to management, teams and individuals relating to export and trade controls in relation to both current projects and future business growth strategies

  • Create policies, procedures, frameworks and education that guarantees compliance and awareness for all internal stakeholders

  • Lead the Babcock Australasia Trade Controls Steering Committee and all associated working groups

  • Develop a reporting, governance and audit framework to ensure regulatory compliance, identification of risks, implementation of corrective actions and appropriate reporting at both the local and group executive level

  • Oversee strategies and practices in relation to site security and security clearance processes

This role will appeal to candidates that have significant experience in developing and implementing integrated Trade Control compliance strategies that will support the Commercial team in delivering a service to the Babcock Australasian business units that is second to none in the areas of trade control compliance and subject matter expertise. Ideally candidates will be degree qualified in an associated discipline and possess extensive experience in working with Australian, U.K., and U.S export controls in large and complex organisations together with demonstrated experience in achieving procedural compliance with complex international trading legislation. Additionally the successful candidate will possess a proactive approach to continuous improvement and change management and an ability to empower, educate and influence others to achieve optimal performance and compliance within this area
