Solutions Architect - Defence Aviation

We currently have an exciting full time permanent opportunity for an experienced and professional Solutions Architect to support our high performing Aviation Business within Corporate Development. This position will be based in our state-of-the-art Australasian headquarters in the Adelaide CBD.

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Manager the Solutions Architect will be responsible for developing and delivering integrated project solutions for current and future opportunities to support Babcock’s Defence Aviation business strategy

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead the development for future operating models for a range of Defence Aviation opportunities.

  • Develops and maintains the project baseline including but not limited to; work breakdown structure (WBS), organisational breakdown structure (OBS), risk and opportunity register, project resource and management plans.

  • Resolves deliverable programme management issues during the capture/bid phase, working closely with the Capture Manager to ensure alignment.

  • Working with Program Manager and Business Development Manager, engage potential customers to foster relationships to identify business opportunities in the sector.

  • Ensures the project can be executed and that forecast margin can be attained.

  • Provide support in developing a winning approach to delivering the project which minimises the risk to achieving the desired returns.

  • Manage the production of all supporting documentation and presentations required to inform the Solution Development for Babcock Gate review process including the use of common office software tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.

  • Produce routine updates and a monthly report to the Program Manager on progress, risks and issues.

  • Explore and develop cost effective and attractive solutions that satisfy or exceed the customer requirements, liaising across the Babcock International Group and with Suppliers as necessary

About You

This role will align with an experienced Solutions Architect or Systems Engineer that has a proven track record of delivery within a Defence or Government Aviation organisation or experience within a multi-facetted engineering/operations management business. You will be highly experienced with a proven ability within business development support including outstanding negotiation skills. You will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying opportunities, driving change and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work load and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have high level computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly.
