Senior Finance Coordinator

We currently have an exciting new full time permanent opportunity for an experienced and professional Senior Finance Coordinator to join our high performing Finance team. This position will be based in our state-of-the-art Australasian headquarters in the Adelaide CBD.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller the Senior Finance Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of a busy finance delivery team as a well as developing, leading and supervising the Finance Shared Service team across all divisions of Land, Air & Sea across Babcock Australia.


Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Management of Babcock’s finance shared services function including process improvement, cross training and management of staff performance and workload.

  • Management of online banking platforms;

  • Manage intercompany recharges and ensuring that charges have appropriate substantiation and are recharged in a timely manner;

  • Ensure accounts payable invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner, bank statements are processed on a daily basis and ensure key supplier statements are reconciled on a monthly basis;

  • Ensure accounts receivable invoices are processed with accurate supporting information in a timely manner

  • Ensure foreign currency accounts maintain appropriate balances to cover FX exposure and payments;

  • Ensure AMEX payments are fully substantiated and appropriate credit limit management;

  • Manage Petty Cash and Expense Claim reconciliations and procedures;

  • Direct and supervise the activities of the Credit Control function, to ensure both the timely collection of outstanding amounts and the maintenance of outstanding debts at acceptable levels.

  • Produce accurate and timely reports of shared services function;

  • Ensure business compliance to Company policy and procedures of internal controls;

  • Assist in the learning and development of operational staff.

About You

This role will align with an experienced financial team leader or supervisor that has tertiary qualifications and a proven track record of delivery within a defence or a complex engineering environment. You will be a highly experienced professional that has excellent interpersonal skills and a strong financial system and process understanding. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying opportunities, driving change and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work load and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have high level ERP & computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly.
