Babcock Australasia currently has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our experienced team based in Henderson, Western Australia.

The Mechanical Fitter has a key role in ensuring that all submarine maintenance and workshop activities and duties are actioned and completed in line with the Maintenance Supervisors requirements and ensuring Babcock WA Henderson objectives are achieved.

This role will report to the Maintenance Supervisors and the basic responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Provide support and input into work schedules;

  • Provide Preventative & corrective maintenance services for the Collins Class Submarine Weapons Discharge System, Submerged Signal Ejectors, Air Purification System & Weapons Handling Discharge Training Rig;

  • Provide input into system engineering review to improve reliability, maintainability and availability of the equipment;

  • Liaison with internal and external customers to ensure timely action of scheduled and unscheduled activities;

  • Review of maintenance and technical documentation to ensure currency and accuracy;

  • Provide feedback on Maintenance and quality processes;

  • Other duties as instructed commensurate with the position.

The ideal candidate will have the following core skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Trade;

  • Current Forklift license and experience;

  • Current ‘C’ Class manual drivers licence.

  • Good verbal and written communication skill;

  • High level of attention to detail

 

Applicants must be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
