Fleet Manager – Qantas GSE

Babcock is presently delivering an exciting and diverse contract to support the Qantas Group's fleet of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), which comprises more than 10,000 assets spread across 60 locations across Australia including Qantas' domestic, regional, freight, catering and engineering operations, as well as Jetstar. Working with Qantas as its trusted asset management partner, Babcock is delivering a customised and innovative asset management solution to drive reliability and efficiency improvements of equipment and provide significant long term capability and cost benefits.

To support this partnership with an iconic Australian company, Babcock Australasia are seeking to engage a Fleet Manager in order to join our team in Sydney. This role will be responsible for providing a strategic approach to the sustainment of GSE and provide operational support, improvement and change management of our asset management systems and process delivery. Key to this position is ensuring a high quality solution is delivered which exceeds customers' expectations and complies with contractual obligations whilst achieving the business desired business outcomes for all internal and external stakeholders.

The key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Work in line with Babcock HSE & Qantas HSE requirements

  • Responsible for the fleet management system and the data integrity within the system

  • Ensure relevant data provided to the GSE team for the performance at their port is up to date and correct

  • Support the management of the major inspection program

  • Oversee the delivery of asset management projects and requirements as directed by the National Technical Manager

  • Review GSE asset reliability, availability and utilisation and identify opportunities for improvement and fleet optimisation

  • Conduct root cause analysis and  failure modes and effects analysis on GSE

  • Support safety investigations with technical and fault analysis

  • Be a key interface with all internal and external stakeholders ensuring client engagement and contract delivery improvement and growth

  • Training client and Babcock personnel in the use of the Asset Management System including mobile maintenance application

  • Support engineering services related to parts substitution, defect management and proposed modifications in accordance to technical regulations

About You

This role will align with an experienced Fleet Manager that has an extensive experience within a defence, manufacturing or technical engineering organisation. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving change and someone that enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work load and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have high level computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly. Familiarity of Airport/GSE equipment within either a Defence or Civil background would be advantageous
