Babcock is presently delivering an exciting and diverse contract to support the Qantas Group's fleet of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), which comprises more than 10,000 assets spread across 60 locations across Australia including Qantas' domestic, regional, freight, catering and engineering operations, as well as Jetstar. Working with Qantas as its trusted asset management partner, Babcock is delivering a customised and innovative asset management solution to drive reliability and efficiency improvements of equipment and provide significant long term capability and cost benefits.

To support this partnership with an iconic Australian company, Babcock are offering an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our high performing team based in Mascot.

About the role

Reporting to the Fleet Engineer Manager, the Engineer – Qantas GSE will drive best practice engineering and change management to deliver project goals and business results driven by the ability to move between the big picture and detailed project requirements.

The Project Engineer will support the team in a variety of areas, including:

  • Ensure a safe work place in line with Babcock and Qantas HSE requirements

  • Daily management and organisation of engineering and compliance project activities

  • Engineering management of GSE projects

  • Develop engineering requirements and technical specifications

  • Report progress against project plans, costs, quality and schedule

  • Identify and implement resources required for projects

  • Provide leadership and input into continuous improvement within the technical area. This includes replacement planning, budgeting and analysis of GSE asset utilisation, reliability, maintenance, supply and life cycle costing

  • Management and development of technical engineering requirements and validation and verification.

  • Systematic root cause and data analysis experience

  • Ensure integrity of data held on business IT systems as determined by contractual need

  • Communicate and negotiate with all internal and external stakeholders in order to provide optimum issue resolution for all parties

 

About You

This role will align with an experienced Engineer that has proven track record in planning and coordinating projects to meet required deadlines within a technical engineering, manufacturing or defence sector. You will be a degree qualified in an associated discipline and will possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Additionally you will be a confident team player that has a passion for identifying and driving improvement and change activities and enjoys working within a team environment but can also work autonomously as required. You will have exceptional time management and organisational experience coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work load and timeframes with a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have high level computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes quickly. Familiarity in systems engineering and acquisitions of Airport/GSE equipment within either a Defence or Civil background
