Business Intelligence Developer

We currently have an exciting and newly created full-time 12 month contract opportunity for an experienced professional to join our high performing Business Solutions Team.


We are looking for an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to create and manage our BI and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge. With a direct reporting line to the Business Applications Manager, the BI Developer will enhance our business intelligence solutions to help us make better decisions.


In order to succeed in this role, you will be able to:

  • Define and scope solutions to deliver provided BI requirements;

  • Elicit and document business and technical requirements accurately;

  • Explicitly communicate requirements to sponsors, stakeholders and project team members;

  • Verify that the implemented solution meets the requirements;

  • Testing the solution to validate project objectives;

  • Use primary/secondary analytical research methods to identify and document vital information;

  • Develop, present and implement improvements based upon your gathered research;

  • Actively engage and develop rapport with corresponding individuals/teams in order to achieve completion in line with business’ budget/objectives; and

  • Strive to minimise additional costs associated with role


To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience as BI Developer or Data Scientist with experience in business requirement analysis, process improvement and benefits modelling;

  • A BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field;

  • In depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework;

  • Familiarity with BI technologies – Microsoft Power BI, Oracle, QlikView;

  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); and

  • Either hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise their own workload, work well under pressure and meet deadlines in addition to having strong self-motivation with the ability to use initiative and critical thinking, problem solving skills.
